Along with world-class performance and cutting-edge style, sustainable innovation defines Mohawk Group and its four brands—Karastan, Lees, Bigelow and Durkan. Mohawk Group's partnership with International Living Future Institute as an Angel sponsor—the premier level of company involvement—makes us part of a global community focused on a world that ecologically restorative, socially just, and culturally rich.
Along with other leading-edge programs, ILFI operates the Living Building Challenge, a green building certification program defining the most advanced measure of sustainability for architecture and interior design and acting to diminish the gap between current limits and ideal solutions. Mohawk Group's key Angel sponsorship demonstrates our commitment to the Living Building Challenge. Mohawk Group is promoting the Living Building Challenge to the architecture and design community, where interest is gaining momentum, and is working with ILFI to establish and energize collaboratives—groups interested in pursuing Challenge projects.
ILFI and Mohawk Group have developed a continuing education unit (CEU) course for architects and designers that's is approved by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), American Institute of Architects (AIA) and International Interior Design Association (IIDA). The presentation focuses on the Living Building Challenge Standard.
Mohawk Group is also participating in the ILFI's Declare® program and is in the process of creating Declare labels for its products. Declare, IFLI's signature program related to product disclosures, is an ingredients label listing all the materials in a given building product. It gives the company an expanded point of entry for sustainable projects.
