How long have you been working in the Industry?
7 years in the industry.
What territory do you currently cover?
I am currently based in Denver and I cover the South-Central area.
What inspires you professionally?
Inspiration comes from many areas but what gets my creative juices flowing the most is saying that I can’t do it. I’m challenged by knowing that all things start small.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
I love when I get briefs from clients to mimic natural forms or abstract concepts. Its very fun to research the project location so that I can get a feel for the area by pulling natural forms, landscapes, and cultural aspects to make a fresh design.
What are your most favorite things on your desk?
I will always have a speaker or headphones near me, at least 3-5 cups of coffee or tea that stay there all day, and a note book where I scribble down ideas and keep my thoughts together. These things I cannot work without.
When you are short on inspiration how do you reenergize; where do you go for inspiration?
When I’m stuck with little inspiration, especially during this pandemic, I connect with nature through science. I love listening to science podcasts and learning about new things in our environment.
What made you decide to showcase the trend/designs that you selected?
This past year we’ve been either inside, in our yards, or retreating to simple things in life. I’ve been drawn to simpler shapes. Since I’ve moved to the western mountains, the landscapes are made up of rocks, few trees and a lot of space. The west is a lot of grey and brown but when the sun rises and sets it transforms the scenery with light and color. So, I spend a lot of time watching a lot of sunsets.
There’s this phenomenon called alpenglow its when the sun sets against or in front of the mountains so that the mountains glow pinks, golds, and blue. The angles of rocks and trees are illuminated bright with reds and golds contrasted by shadows of hard angles of deep blues.
