2022 DSCVR WINNERS
Meet the 2022 DSCVR Winners
The Durkan DSCVR student design competition was established in partnership with the Network of the Hospitality Industry (NEWH) to exhibit the talent of designers in the hospitality design field and contribute to the education of future designers.
Corina Amarioarei's “A Magical Dance” was inspired by Disney fairy tales and ocean waves. She created a design that illustrated the feeling of dancing on a cloud, along with the joy of twirling in the ocean. The Carleton University student was inspired to enter DSCVR because she is passionate about creating unique and exciting designs.
Sarah Clark analyzed mushrooms for her design entitled “Undergrowth”. Mushrooms seem small and simple, but offer a variety of patterns, shapes, textures, and colors. The Savannah College of Art and Design student decided to enter the Durkan competition because of her professor, Katie Buchanan. Her positive words of encouragement gave Clark the confidence to submit her work.
Emma Street's design “Fading Nostalgia” was based on the space’s function as a ballroom. The Savannah College of Art and Design student was inspired by the idea of dancing and frivolity as well as the study of light imagery. She entered because DSCVR combined two of her favorite aspects of design and allowed her to assume the perspective of an interior designer who wants to create movement throughout a space.
