Social Canvas Collection: A Better Together Initiative, in Collaboration with ArtLifting
CHICAGO, IL. June 10, 2022 — As we come into the world, we are each given a canvas, ready to be painted with our own story.
These canvases are not necessarily blank, and often bring affordances or limitations, depending on our personal and social circumstances. Even still, it’s up to us to determine what we do with our canvas. We each have the agency to thrive when society is equitable and inclusive.
Mohawk Group’s Social Canvas modular carpet collection speaks to the triumph of the human spirit. Using the work of artist Charlie French as a point of departure, this collection is a result of a collaboration with ArtLifting, an organization which champions artists who are impacted by disabilities or housing insecurity. ArtLifting provides a platform and creates opportunities for underrepresented artists to amplify their voices and participate in the contemporary art market.
Social Canvas conveys the expression and poignancy of Charlie French’s abstract painterly style, depicted in multiple styles, each viewed as a different canvas. The styles in this collection span chunky and smooth textures, colorful brushwork, and have a refined palette. Social Canvas serves as a focal point, or artistic accent,to bring the warmth of the human spirit into spaces for all to feel welcome and supported.
This collection offers six product styles: Uplifting Others Breaking; Space for All; Creative Culture; and Color Canvas. Color Canvas is a textured solid that can be used as additional brushstrokes and paint colors to complement or border styles from the entire collection. On its own, Color Canvas’ twelvecolors serveas a minimal architectural installation.
With Mohawk Group’s new EcoFlexONE backing, Social Canvas is Living Product certified, NSF 140 Platinum, and has low embodied carbon for a net-positive impact. This collection embodies Mohawk’s sustainability efforts and supports a more equitable future for all.In keeping with their commitment to Believe in Better, Mohawk Group crafted this collection with Duracolor® TricorFiber, delivering unsurpassed stain resistance, colorfastness, durability, color clarity and enhanced soil performance. Additionally, as part of our Better Together Initiative, Social Canvas also provides a positive social impact through our Specify for a Cure program, wherein a portion of sales is donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Experience this collection at NeoCon June 13-15 at TheMART, showroom 377 in Chicago, IL.
