A Reminder of Nature's Beauty
The story of Neches Bend begins in
the 1840s, when a local sawmill built
in the bend of the Neches River in
Texas had a thriving timber business.
After the sawmill closed in the early
20th century, the surviving land and
structures became part of a National
Forest. Since then, rewilding has
occurred, where the surrounding
forest has reclaimed the land of
Neches Bend and returned it to
nature. This serves as a reminder of
the beauty of nature and its ability to
adapt and regenerate.
